Mishawaka Municipal Parking Lot

In the Fall of 2023, the City of Mishawaka engaged JPR to assist with the design of an attractive yet efficient municipal parking lot to serve as overflow parking for nearby Battell Park and St. Monica’s Church. Constructed on a vacant lot, the final design maximized the number of parking spaces available.

To address conflicts with overhead utility lines and poles, the design team worked with the utility provider to relocate poles and reroute communications underground. Three drywells connected with a French drain system allowed all stormwater to be retained on site. Other project enhancements encompassed intersection improvements at Liberty Drive and Grove Street. These improvements included bump outs to narrow the roadway as a means of slowing vehicles, along with providing shorter and safer crossings for pedestrians.

Construction for this project is currently underway.  Special attention was given to construction sequencing to ensure limited interruption and inconvenience to adjacent homeowners. The project is on schedule for completion September 2024.
