Starke County Bridge No. 7 Replacement

Starke County, Indiana

JPR was hired, as part of the pre-qualified engineering design consulting team, for the removal and replacement of Bridge No. 7 at CR 1200 E over Yellow River. The existing substandard bridge was structurally compromised, providing a safety risk to the community.

The design was funded 100% through Starke County, and the construction for this project was funded 80% through Federal Aid and 20% through Local Public Agency (Starke County), as administered by INDOT.

Due to administrative delays before the start of the Design Phase, the team worked on a fast track to ensure the design was finished within the funding deadline. During this time, INDOT was able to offer time extensions to selected projects. This bridge project was awarded an extension, and the design was completed within the extended schedule.

JPR provided a long list of services for the project, including land acquisition management which required temporary right-of-way acquisition for grading and drive reconstruction from all four property owners adjacent to the site. JPR worked as a liaison between the County and these property owners.

JPR also served as representation of Starke County at INDOT Quarterly Budget and Progress Tracking Meetings.

Completed on time and within budget, the new structurally sound bridge is up-to-date with current safety standards, ensuring the safety of both motorists and pedestrians at a key river crossing.
