Parkview Field, Field Replacement

JPR led the design and engineering efforts to rehabilitate the playing field at Parkview Field — home to the TinCaps, a Minor League Baseball team — addressing persistent flooding and drainage failures that had been impacting the facility’s performance and compliance. The team began by thoroughly evaluating existing conditions, identifying stormwater deficiencies, field grading issues, and areas that did not meet Professional Development League (PDL)  requirements. From there, a strategic plan was developed to correct these deficiencies, improve drainage, and bring the field back into full compliance. Once the strategy was approved, JPR prepared full engineering, permitting, and construction documents, guiding the project from design through completion.

The field’s high water table and outdated, undersized stormwater system posed significant challenges. JPR’s solution included a carefully coordinated drainage system using strategically placed trench drains and perforated piping, designed to integrate into the existing infrastructure and resolve the frequent flooding. Working around an existing stormwater pump system, the team applied its deep experience in both professional baseball stadiums and technical field design to deliver a high-performing, resilient solution.

The improvements ensure Parkview Field remains a vital, family-friendly venue for the Fort Wayne community, with a playable, compliant field ready in time for opening day.
