Macy Community Center

Macy, Indiana

The Town of Macy identified a pressing need for a dedicated space for town events and gatherings. Traditionally, such gatherings were held in local factories, barns, and an undersized fire station. To secure funding through an OCRA grant for the design and construction of a new community center, the Town was required to submit conceptual building and site plans along with a cost estimate.

JPR assisted the Town in developing the necessary documentation to successfully obtain the grant funding for the 2,500-square-foot project. Once the funding was secured, JPR collaborated with the Town to finalize the design. They also worked closely with contractors to ensure that the final cost remained within the budget.

The design incorporated primary and secondary meeting spaces, a large kitchen, food pantry, and public restrooms within the available building footprint. These spaces were strategically located along a central corridor “spine” off the main entrance. The exterior design aimed to create a distinctive building using materials that harmonize with the surrounding residential neighborhoods.
