To account for the grown on the north side of the Town of Bremen, improvements to North Center Street were essential. This road, stretching 2,230-feet to US 6, will serve both the 30-acre Southwire Development as well as an additional 44-acres east of Elm Road. Both areas were previously annexed into the City for future commercial and industrial use.
Updates to the storm sewer, as well as sanitary and water utility extensions, were included in the design and strategically laid out to account for future growth. Furthermore, an entire Stormwater Study was conducted for the watershed area to ensure the existing storm sewer beneath North Center Street was adequately sized. The reconstruction project did not come without its challenges – specifically with a variety of existing utilities – however, JPR was able to find solutions to all issues.
Coordination with property owners and existing utility companies was critical in the construction of the street. Gas, electric, and communication lines were all present, and extensive collaboration and subsurface investigations were required to ensure the proposed utility crossings would not conflict with existing infrastructure.
