Nappanee Downtown Master Plan

JPR was engaged by the City of Nappanee Redevelopment Commission to create a comprehensive Master Plan tailored to the City’s unique needs – to enhance the vibrancy, livability, and well-being of its downtown.

In collaboration with other consulting firms, the design team conducted a thorough analysis of downtown, identifying challenges and opportunities. Our strategic recommendations for proposed improvements encompassed the aesthetics and functionality of downtown, also exploring alleyway activation and parking as well as bike lanes and pedestrian connections. The design team also evaluated alternate truck routes and traffic calming measures to make the downtown core more pedestrian-friendly. Furthermore, the team also worked with the City to locate a potential new downtown plaza for festivals and events. Public input, gathered through workshops and an online survey, was crucial to the project.

As the main client contact, JPR maintained constant and diligent communication, essential for aligning the consultants and the City while keeping the schedule on track. The JPR team was able to provide big-picture ideas, complemented by unique insights from living within the Nappanee community.

This Master Plan will provide the City of Nappanee with a guideline for long-term success, positioning them as a premier Indiana community for decades to come.
