LaGrange County Regional Utility District Regions B & C Wastewater Projects

LaGrange County, IN

JPR was hired by the LaGrange County Regional Utility District to conduct studies and assemble IFA SRF applications for projects in both Region B and Region C.

REGION B:  This project involved a multitude of improvements to the District’s existing Region B Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and Collection System. The WWTP improvements included replacing the oxidation ditch aeration system, clarifier equipment, existing RAS and WAS sludge pumps, and the UV disinfection system. It also included the construction of new on-site buildings for aeration equipment, electrical and storage, along with construction of an influent surge tank bypass system and a new biosolids dewatering system and storage structure.

Improvements to the Wastewater Collection System included construction of two new lift stations and 33,500-feet of force main to transport wastewater from the District’s Fish and Royer Lake service areas to the WWTP. It also encompassed the decommissioning of an additional WWTP facility, along with the rehabilitation and equipment replacement at 9 existing lift stations and the replacement of 7,500-feet of existing force main between two District lift stations along State Road 3.

Project construction began in 2020 and it became operational in 2022.

REGION C:  This project consisted of two contracts. Contract A encompassed the construction of a new extended aeration WWTP to serve the communities of Howe, Cedar Lake, and the Indiana Toll Road Travel Plaza #7. This included equipment and tankage, an influent pump station, mechanical screen, lab building, control building, sludge dewatering system and pad, UV disinfection, and effluent outfall.

Contract B included the construction of approximately 85,000-feet of pressure sewers to serve approximately 365 residential homes and approximately 50 commercial businesses in and around Howe and Cedar Lake. Contract B also included the construction of two sanitary pump stations and approximately 30,000-feet of mainline force main to convey wastewater to the plant constructed in Contract A.

The system was constructed in 2019 and began service in early 2020. It has been in continuous operation since.
