As part of the 5th Street redesign in Auburn, an adjacent municipal parking lot was redeveloped for downtown use. Working with the City, JPR designed a new profile, curb and gutter, curb ramps, landscaping, and parking lot operation.
A new water main was designed underneath 5th Street to accommodate future infrastructure needs. Several utility poles conflicted with the proposed on-street parking spots. The JPR team coordinated with Auburn Electric to relocate the poles to an area outside of the proposed parking and walkway areas, accommodating both the City and utility. As an added benefit, JPR was able to provide multiple services on a single plan set.
Additionally, with the inclusion of streetscape amenities and lighting, the City is able to temporarily close the road and parking lot to provide the community with safe and accessible festivals and celebrations.
