The City of La Porte selected JPR to provide planning assistance for the completion of a citywide wayfinding project. The goal of this Wayfinding Plan was to design gateway signage that would welcome visitors to the City, while also designing and locating directional signage for over 25 destinations.
JPR collaborated with both the City and community to determine the directional destinations, as well as the graphics, typography, and colors for the sign family that would help brand La Porte. As it was critical to pay tribute to the City’s history and key features, the team gained inspiration for the design from the 6 lakes located within city limits. JPR then investigated the physical location for each sign and gateway feature to identify opportunities and constraints. From this collaboration and research, JPR strategically located 7 gateway features and over 75 directionals to provide efficient wayfinding signage for visitors to more than 25 destinations.
At the conclusion of the study, the deliverables included a 30% Design Document package consisting of construction intent drawings and specifications for the City’s gateway and wayfinding signage.
