Fedder’s Ally, an all-inclusive playground in Washington Park, is being designed to welcome people of all ages and abilities and will serve as a regional destination for inclusive play. JPR provided the topographic and boundary surveys for the entire park, supporting another design firm in developing a comprehensive grading and stormwater strategy. Utilizing geotechnical soil borings, we were able to appropriately size the stormwater retention system, minimizing its impact on the playground’s design and usability.
Additionally, JPR architects designed a new restroom facility, working closely with the Michigan City Park Department on building style, materials, and configuration to meet the anticipated needs of park visitors.
The project is now transitioning into the
Construction Documentation Phase,
with construction anticipated to begin
|in the summer of 2025.
The overarching project goal is to deliver a premier, fully accessible playground located along the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. When complete, the park will feature music and art installations, cocoon play-pods designed for individuals with sensory sensitivities, as well as a trail, slide, and merry-go-round that will all be ADA accessible.
