In 2018, Harvest Bible Chapel wanted to improve their existing church facility to grow their congregation and public outreach. The desired improvements included a significant addition that would provide a larger sanctuary, classrooms, and administration offices – nearly doubling the footprint of the existing 30,000-square-foot building. Along with the proposed building addition, substantial site improvements were required.
Selected as part of the project design team, JPR was responsible for developing a Campus Master Plan that considered the proposed building expansion while working through several concepts to determine the best option for vehicular and pedestrian circulation patterns, drop-off locations, and access into the building.
Due to the size of the final building footprint and the anticipated building occupancy rates, the facility needed to be switched from septic and well systems to municipal sanitary and water utilities. JPR facilitated utility coordination meetings with the City and prepared the necessary construction documents for these connections.
Careful consideration towards grading was also required due to a 10-foot elevation change on the site. The plan considered the proposed outdoor reflective and social spaces, ADA accessible routes, and stormwater management. In total, over 27,000 cubic yards of earthwork was required to transform the 15-plus acre site.
JPR’s additional responsibilities included a topographic survey, geotechnical investigation, design of the new lift station, and 1,000 feet of sanitary force main to connect to the municipal sewer. JPR was also responsible for site construction drawings, erosion control permitting, variance request and permitting, landscape design, and construction staking.
